Recreatiepark de Wielerbaan is situated between the Veluwe, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the Gelderse Vallei and the Betuwe. The area stands out for its array of landscapes: from forests and vast heaths, to meadows and water. Recreatiepark de Wielerbaan is the ideal location for cyclists and hikers. From the park, there are various cycling and walking routes through the surrounding area.
The Veluwe is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Holland. From Recreatiepark de Wielerbaan, you are just a 20 minute drive away from the Hoge Veluwe National Park, where the Kröller Müller Museum is also located.
Don't forget to discover the area to the south of Wageningen. The Betuwe is famous for its rivers and horticulture. In main season, an apple, pear or cherry orchard is definitely worth a visit. The Betuwe can be reached by car via the A50, but you can also make the crossing via the Lexkesveer. This ferry sails over the Nederrijn (Dutch part of the Rhine) between Wageningen and Randwijk several times a day and transports pedestrians, bicycles and motorists.
The centre of Wageningen is 3 kilometres from the park and has a rich history. The city played a major role during the Second World War in particular; Wageningen was the place where negotiations were held about the behaviour of German soldiers after the capitulation. On 5 May, the Liberation Festival is celebrated in Wageningen with a parade and performances by various artists.
The Belmonte Arboretum in Wageningen is also definitely worth a visit. The park has rare trees and shrubs and is open all year round, seven days a week, and entrance is free.
There are all kinds of things to do on the park itself and in the area surrounding Wageningen, for all ages. For example, you could visit one of the many museums, zoos, amusement parks or indoor and outdoor play areas.
In cooperation with Ticketsplus, we offer the best day trips in the surrounding area. Tickets for many of these great day trips can be purchased from the reception at the park.
