Egmond: traditionally a fishing village and now one of the most popular seaside resorts in Holland. Recreatiepark de Woudhoeve is located in Egmond aan den Hoef, which together with Egmond-Binnen and Egmond aan Zee makes up 'Egmond'.
There is a lot to do in Egmond, all year round. The autumn is perfect for a long walk on the beach, and in winter, there is a charming Christmas market and the annual New Year's Dive is organised. In the spring, you will be treated to flowering bulb fields and in the summer you can, of course, take a dip in the North Sea and you can lounge, have a drink or eat at one of the many terraces along the coast.
The village is home to the oldest abbey in Holland. Sint-Adelbertabdij was founded in the tenth century and can still be visited today. The J.C.J. van Speijk lighthouse is situated on the coast of Egmond aan Zee, and is the oldest active lighthouse in Holland.
In Egmond aan den Hoef itself, you will find the ruins of the castle of Lamoraal van Egmond. In the distance, a number of stolp farms can be seen with their pyramid roofs, characteristic of Noord Holland.
You can explore the surroundings of Egmond by bike or on foot. A variety of free cycling and walking routes through the dunes, meadows and charming towns and villages in the surrounding area are available from the reception at the park. Alkmaar, for example, is located less than 30 minutes by bike from Recreatiepark de Woudhoeve. Here, you can go shopping, visit the Alkmaar cheese market on a Friday morning or relax at one of the many restaurants.
There are all kinds of things to do on the park itself and in the area surrounding Egmond, for all ages. For example, you could visit one of the many museums, zoos, amusement parks or indoor and outdoor play areas.
In cooperation with Ticketsplus, we offer the best day trips in the surrounding area. Tickets for many of these great day trips can be purchased (with discounts) from the reception at the park.
